Katti Batti, released this friday, starring Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut,is from the director of movies like Kal ho Na Ho. The trailer created a very positive vibe and impression, but what followed in reality was utter rubbish. The start was different unlike regular rom-coms, with no flow nor a proper narration. I was wondering whether I was watching the movie or the making of it.
Every scene that followed was just an improvisation and not a preplanned effort. Flashbacks coming in every 2 minutes. There was no rhythm and things looked out of place; songs starting at odd points and fading away, with no connect to the flow of the film. The acting by both the lead actors was pathetic. I’ve never seen such acting from Kangana. I was surprised she even took up a role like this. After two back to back solid performances in Queen and Tanu weds Manu Returns, this came as a shock.
The only highlight of the movie was the song Sarfira and the climax scene which should have come a lot earlier than it did. Each of the other characters in the film were just there in the background without adding any value to the film.
The ending was the best part. It was a relief that it was over.
I will give a reluctant 1 out of 5 for this.
